Eine junge Frau aus Hamburg schmeißt ihren Job hin und fliegt dann spontan nach New York, um dort ihren Traum als Soul Sängerin zu verwirklichen- dort setzt sie alles auf eine Karte.
Sie fängt im legendären live Club „The Bitter End“ an und singt dort. Dies war der Anfang ihrer Musikkarriere, jetzt bringt sie sogar ihr Doppel(!)album „Modern Retro Soul“ im Oktober 2019 raus, dass von dem Label Blue-Eyed Soul veröffentlicht wird.
Mittlerweile hat sie auch eine Band gegründet, übte unentwegt Gitarre, Ukulele und Klavier. Was schlussendlich dazu führte, dass sie Multiinstrumentalistin wurde. Mit ihrer außergewöhnlichen Stimme imponierte Miu nicht nur ihren Soul Fans, als sie durch Deutschland und Europa reiste, sondern ebenso den Gästen von Elbjazz und Jazz Baltica.
Sogar das Hamburger Abendblatt ist beeindruckt von ihrer unverwechselbaren Stimme. „Den Soul von Donny Hathaway, den Charme von einer Audrey Hepburn aber auch das Abgründige von Amy Winehouse und die Stärke von einer Adele.“.
Miu setzte mit „Modern Retro Soul“ auch ein Statement. Ein Doppelalbum, mit außergewöhnlichen Sounds. Verzerrte Gitarren aus den 70s und über all dem schwebt Miu‘s Stimme, man merkt allein am Text, dass der Weg zum Album alles andere als leicht war. Inspiriert von starken Songwriterinnen, Roh-Soundspezialisten und großen Vokalistinnen bringt Miu ihre Lieder mit Wumms, zartem Flirren, Dreck und Glanz ins Jahr 2019.
„Modern Retro Soul“- zwei Platten beinhalten insgesamt 6 Songs: It´s a trap, Gimme a break, So much more, Partner in crime, Easy und Be the bigger Person. Diese Lieder sind alle sehr unterschiedlich, Harmonieren aber trotzdem wunderbar miteinander.
Unser Persönliches Fazit: Miu macht tolle Songs und hat eine schöne Stimme, aber für zwei Platten sind 6 Songs einfach zu wenig.
