Musikwettbewerb für junge Musiker; Musik-Workshops, Begegnungen, Gespräche und Konzerte der Preisträger. Texte treffen Töne ist das Motto des bundesweiten Nachwuchswettbewerbs Treffen junge Musik-Szene. Nicht „Wer trifft den Ton?“ sondern „Was trifft den Ton?“ ist entscheidend für die Auswahl zur Teilnahme. Auch darin unterscheidet sich dieser Bundeswettbewerb von vielen anderen Wettbewerben und Castings-Shows, die den schnellen Ruhm versprechen. Das Treffen junge Musik-Szene verspricht etwas ganz Anderes: eine Standortbestimmung, eine Orientierung, etwas Wegzehrung für die mühsame Suche nach der eigenen künstlerischen Identität.
Alle Preisträger*innen spielen gemeinsam ein Konzert vor Publikum in dem eigens dafür eingerichteten Club im Haus der Berliner Festspiele.
Das Treffen junge Musik-Szene lebt davon, dass Solokünstler*innen auf große Formationen, Bands auf Duos, junge auf ältere Musiker*innen treffen, sich spontane Zusammenspiele entwickeln, alle mit- und voneinander lernen. Der dafür konzipierte Campus im Haus der Berliner Festspiele bietet praktische Workshops zu Themen wie Songwriting, Gesang, Improvisation, Arrangement und Bühnenperformance. Eine gemeinsame Auftrittsanalyse und Fachgespräche dienen dem Austausch untereinander.
In den abendlichen Jam-Sessions wird in neuen Konstellationen gespielt, werden Horizonte verrückt, stilistische Vorurteile aufgehoben, Gewohnheiten abgelegt. Schöne Gewohnheit ist, dass auch frühere Preisträger*innen des Treffens bei den Jam-Sessions vorbeischauen und mitspielen.
