Meine Meinung
Das Buch liegt schon seit einer Weile auf meinem SuB. Jetzt hatte ich mal wieder Lust auf ein Jugend-/Fantasybuch und die Bücher „Gelöscht“,„Zersplittert“ und „Gezwungen“ von derselben Autorin fand ich schon total gut, sodass ich gehofft habe, dass dieses mich genauso verzaubert!
Die Idee ist mal wieder was anderes, als ich in letzter Zeit gelesen habe. Wir haben hier Zwillinge, die sich auf der Beerdigung ihrer Mutter kennenlernen und vollkommen verschieden sind. Während eine von ihnen ein schönes Leben mit Familie, Freunden und ein großes Haus hatte, musste die andere in einem kleinen Haus, abgeschnitten von der Welt leben. Es gibt für ihre Trennung anscheinend einen Grund, denn eine der Zwillinge soll böse sein und die andere gut…
Eine schöne Idee, bei der man nicht ganz wusste, was auf einen zukommt. Ich mag es, mich ein wenig überraschen zu lassen und das konnte „Book of Lies“ definitiv erfüllen. Es ging aber nicht nur um Hexen, magische Kräfte und Geheimnisse, nein! Es wurde total gut und spannend erweitert und ich hätte es sogar als leichten Fantasythriller bezeichnet.
Cover und Titel fand ich passend und schön. Jaja, Emmi mag keine Gesichter auf Covern aber das hat gut zu dem gepasst, was ich mir unter Piper und Quinn vorgestellt habe. Ausnahme! 😀 Warum es „Book of Lies“ heißt, bleibt eine Zeit lang ungeklärt aber im Endeffekt ist alles logisch…
Das Buch hat wunderbar angefangen und ich hatte einen tollen Einstieg. Man wurde angenehm in die Geschichte geschubst und man hat mit Quinn zusammen Piper kennengelernt und die Vergangenheit der beiden erforscht…
Teri Terry’s Schreibstil fand ich früher so wunderbar! Sie weiß, wie man Leute in ihren Bann zieht und hat mir das vor allem in „Gelöscht“ gezeigt. Die Reihe war ein totaler Pageturner und ich war ein ganz großer Fan von Terrys Art zu schreiben… Leider -riesen fettes leider- war der Schreibstil hier nicht so wie sonst und konnte auch nicht mit ihrer ersten Trilogie mithalten. Es war zwar schon spannend, aber kein Pageturner. Mit den 400 Seiten hätte ich mir außerdem eine bessere Aufteilung gewünscht, denn die Auflösung der Geheimnisse und die Spannung kam erst am Ende und huch, schon war das Buch zu Ende! Sehr schade.
Piper und Quinn sind Zwillinge und man kann sie so gut wie gar nicht unterscheiden, aber vom Charakter her sind sie unglaublich verschieden. Quinn hat ihr ganzes Leben in einem abgelegenen Ort gelebt. Sie ist eher zurückhaltend und still, sagt immer die Wahrheit, denn das wurde ihr so beigebracht und sie braucht eine Weile, um Vertrauen aufzubauen. Piper dagegen ist sehr aufbrausend, mutig und hat kein Problem damit zu lügen.
Mir haben beide nicht so sehr gefallen aber Piper war mir ein Stückchen lieber. Laut Buchblogger Community bin ich da glaube ich die Einzige. ;D Ja, sie ist sehr selbstbewusst und ich konnte mich einfach mehr mit ihr als mit Quinn identifizieren. Leider hatte ich das Gefühl, dass sie mir beide zu unsympathisch waren. Klar, Fehler sind menschlich aber ich hatte bei beiden Störfaktoren, die immer wieder aufkamen.
Die Geschichte wurde aus der Ich-Perspektive von beiden Mädchen erzählt und so konnten wir beide Seiten und Handlungen kennenlernen. Ihre Gedankengänge waren gut und interessant zu beobachten, vor allem weil sie so unglaublich verschieden waren. Leider habe ich sie beide nicht richtig verstanden, fand sie manchmal zu zickig und zu voreilig oder zu „langsam“.
Außerdem wurde in die Geschichte noch ein Liebesdreieck hineingebaut und ich HASSE Liebesdreiecke so sehr… Der Glückliche, der zwischen den Zwillingen stand, war Zad. Wobei man hinzufügen muss, dass er mit Piper zusammen war und sie auch liebte… Auch, wenn er ein Nebenprotagonist war, war er mein Liebling! So loyal, charmant, sympathisch, bodenständig, perfekt und er hat das ganze Buch einfach lebendiger und besser gemacht! Das Dreieck mit ihm, Piper und Quinn war schade, er hat was besser verdient, sorry not sorry.
Die Spannung war zwar da, aber nicht stark und sie hat sich extrem gezogen. Ihr müsst euch denken, dass das Buch 400 Seiten hat und die Spannung, die Auflösung und alles andere auf das Ende gelegt wurden, was ich so schade fand! Plötzlich hat man nämlich alles herausgefunden, hier und da passieren noch ganz viele Sachen und schwups, das Ende ist gekommen, das Buch vorbei und alles ging zu schnell. Hätte man auf jeden Fall anders machen können…
Das Ende fand ich übrigens vollkommen blöd. Damit wurde die Botschaft hinter dem Buch vollkommen zunichte gemacht und es macht für mich keinen Sinn… Durch diese Schnelligkeit am Ende konnte ich nicht mehr richtig mitfiebern, denn ja, ich habe mitgerätselt aber auf diese Lösung bin ich nicht gekommen.
Fazit
Ein nettes Buch, was ich gern gelesen habe, mir aber nicht zu 100% gefallen hat. Die Charaktere waren nicht die Besten und die Story nicht die Weltbewegendste, aber schlecht war es nicht! 3,5 von 5 Lesesternen!
