Es ist einer der größten Schätze Brandenburgs. Das „Barockwunder“ Kloster Neuzelle an der Oder ist eine der wenigen noch vollständig erhaltenen Klosteranlagen Europas. Inmitten der malerischen Landschaft am Rande des Schlaubetals findet sich eine wirklich einmalige Mischung aus Architektur, Kultur und (Garten-)Kunst.

Vor rund 750 Jahren wurde das Zisterzienserkloster im Jahr 1268 von Heinrich III., Markgraf von Meißen, gestiftet. Die spätgotische Anlage erfuhr ab 1650 eine prachtvolle barocke Umgestaltung nach böhmischem Vorbild – ein künstlerisches und geistiges Gesamtkunstwerk, das die Besucher heute wie damals tief berührt. So ging es wohl auch den Mönchen. Nach 200 Jahren kehrten Zisterzienser des Stiftes Heiligenkreuz nach Neuzelle zurück, um für immer zu bleiben.

Kulturell herausragend sind das Himmlische Theater mit den einzigartigen Passionsdarstellungen und der Klostergarten, der zu den bedeutendsten Gartenanlagen in Deutschland zählt. Auch in diesem Jahr nach dem Jubiläum wird es bis in den Spätsommer hinein den „Himmlischen Sommer mit zahlreichen kulturellen Veranstaltungen geben.

Gregor Gysi spricht über den Heimatbegriff mit Robert Misk, René Wilke, Matthias Platzeck und Patricia Schlesinger. Alle haben mit Wortmeldungen zum Thema Heimat überregional auf sich aufmerksam gemacht, oder sind in ihrer Funktion dem Thema verpflichtet. Gregor Gysi wird diesen Wortmeldungen in seiner ebenso geistreichen wie wortgewandten Gesprächsführung auf den Grund gehen. Seit 1991 treffen jährlich Studierende aus der ganzen Welt, privat oder durch Ihre Hochschulen entsandt zusammen, und inszenieren die Oper Oder-Spree. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozarts Oper „Die Zauberflöte“ wird diesen Sommer in einer bearbeiteten Version für das Musiktheaterfestival im spätgotischen Kreuzgang des Klosters Neuzelle und im mittelalterlichen Burghof der Burg Beeskow gegeben. Es gibt an weiteren Spielorten auch eine Taschenoper, die kleine Zauberflöte für Kinder, einen festlichen Liederabend, Oper in der Scheune und eine festliche Operngala. In der Reihe „Sommerklänge“ tritt Kat Baloun & the blues woman mit Blues auf. Die Tochter einer klassischen Pianistin wurde vom Bluesbazillus angesteckt und zählt seither zu den gefragtesten Sängerinnen dieses Stils. Sommerklänge bringt auch La Mekanica mit Salsa. Spezialität ist die Timba, aber es gibt auch Salsa und Reggeaton. Die Comedian Harmonists Today beschließen das Jahr feierlich mit ihrem Konzert. Zwei davon sind hier genannt: Die Führung „Zeitzeugen im Kreuzgang“ deckt Geheimnisse zu außergewöhnliche Zeitzeugen in der Dauerstellung der Klostergeschichte auf. Beim Geschmack der Citrus erleben die Besucher einen kulinarischen Diskurs durch die Vielfalt der Düfte und Geschmäcker der Citrus. Sie können Produkte aus diesen Früchten kosten, erfahren vielseitige Nutzungsmöglichkeiten von Citrus-Früchten und lernen auch Sorten kennen, die es im normalen Handel nicht zu kaufen gibt.

Die Kulturveranstaltung „Insel aus Licht“, die erstmals vor zehn Jahren auf der Insel in Eisenhüttenstadt stattfand, wird 2019 wieder zum Leben erweckt. Mit der ersten Licht-Traum-Nacht „Traumzeit“ erstrahlt das Kloster Neuzelle in einem völlig neuem Licht! Mit allen Sinnen können die Besucher in eine scheinbar völlig neuartige Welt eintauchen. Eine Fassadenprojektion an der Stiftskirche durch Videomapping, eine monumentale Lichtsäulen-Installation, eine Laser-Performance und Laser-Show zaubern besondere Lichtstrukturen und Effekte. Vor und in der aufwendig gestalteten Lichtkulisse werden Künstler auftreten und unter anderem außergewöhnlich sphärische Klänge zu Gehör bringen.
Ausstellungen zu historischen Handschriften und einer bienenfreundlichen Umwelt
Die Sonderausstellungen „Historische Handschriften aus dem Kloster Neuzelle“ richtet den Blick auf die Geschichte des Klosters und bietet bedeutende Informationen zur Geschichte. In der Ausstellung werden 7 Handschriften, die im Scriptorium des Klosters Neuzelle ab 1430 entstanden sind, wissenschaftlich aufgearbeitet und dokumentiert. Zu einem außergewöhnlichen Fund am Ende einer Handschrift (sechs Rezepte aus der Klosterapotheke), wird ein besonderes Projekt und Produkt zur Ausstellungseröffnung vorgestellt.
„Stadt – Land – Biene“ heißt die Sonderausstellung, die sich für eine bienenfreundliche Umwelt einsetzt. Bienen tragen in erheblichem Maße zur Erhaltung von Wild- und Kulturpflanzen und deren Erträge bei. Ihre ökologische Bedeutung beträchtlich. Es geht in der Ausstellung auch darum, was jeder von uns zur Rettung der Vielfalt beitragen kann. Die Wanderausstellung realisiert das Landesamt für Umwelt in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Naturpark Schlaubetal.

Der Bürgermeister des Städtchens Krähwinkel möchte seine Tochter Sabine mit dem Bau-, Berg- und Weginspektorssubstitut Sperling vermählen. Sie hat aber in der Residenzstadt einen Herrn Olmers kennengelernt, den sie heiraten will. Kurz vor der Verlobung mit Sperling taucht der besagte Herr in Krähwinkel auf. Er wird für einen Hochgestellten, gar für den König incognito, gehalten und der Wahnsinn nimmt seinen Lauf …

Im Jubiläumsjahr 2018 veranstaltete das Kloster Neuzelle unter dem Motto „Dem Himmel nahe“ ein hochkarätiges und sehr gut besuchtes Kulturprogramm, das den Besuchern eindrucksvoll in Erinnerung ist. Zum Jubiläumsjahr gründete der Zisterzienserorden eine Niederlassung in Neuzelle und es leben dort wieder Mönche.
