In seiner ersten Einzelausstellung zeigt Sebastian Schmidt in der Kravt Gallery sich im Dienst befindliche Marschflugkörper und Torpedos als großformatige 3D-Renderings.
«Beyond Visual Range», auf deutsch «außerhalb der Sichtweite», ist ein militärischer Begriff, der in der Luftfahrt eingesetzt wird und Objekte bezeichnet, die den Sichtradius eines Kampfpiloten verlassen – wie zum Beispiel Cruise-Missiles und Torpedos, die aus sicherer Entfernung gesteuert werden. Sebastian Schmidt möchte mit seiner Arbeit «missiles» auf die Problematik der unsichtbaren Kriegsführung aufmerksam machen und den Besucher der Ausstellung mit der eigenen Apathie gegenüber medialen Krisenberichten konfrontieren.
Über Sebastian Schmidt
Der in Berlin lebende Sebastian Schmidt ist Jahrgang 1983 und wurde in Bamberg geboren. Als Sohn zweier Architekten begleitete ihn die Begeisterung für Kunst, Technik und Perfektion seit frühester Kindheit. Er studierte an der Design Akademie Berlin, arbeitete für namhafte Werbeagenturen und entwickelte internationale Kampagnen für die Konsumgüter und Automobilindustrie.
