Angst, Verletzlichkeit, Leidenschaft – das Dunkle und Extreme menschlicher Emotionen – prägen die drei Arbeiten des Ballettabends „Duato | Kylian | Naharin“. Während „Castrati“ von Nacho Duato sich um die Furcht eines angehenden Sängers vor der Kastration dreht, beschäftigt sich Jiří Kyliáns „Petite mort“ mit den aggressiven wie auch den verletzlichen Seiten von Macht und Sexualität. „Secus“ ist eine abstrakte Arbeit von Ohad Naharin, ausgehend von Kraft, Energie und rohem Fleisch.
Begleitet von Vivaldis Barockmusik, u.a. Stabat Mater RV 621, hinterfragt Nacho Duato in „Castrati“, einer Arbeit für neun Tänzer, die Bedeutung von Männlichkeit und den Stellenwert des Opfers in einer Welt, die Perfektion verlangt. Dabei beschäftigt sich das Stück von 2002 mit dem Phänomen des Kastratensängers – junge Männer, die besonders im 17. und 18. Jahrhundert kastriert wurden, um ihre hohen Singstimmen zu erhalten und die Stars ihrer Zeit waren. Duatos Werk konzentriert sich auf die Angst eines Jungen, der in diese spezielle Gemeinschaft aufgenommen werden soll. Begleitet werden die androgynen Tanzbewegungen – unverwechselbar und beunruhigend – von der Musik Vivaldis, der für die Kastratenstimme komponierte, und Zeitgenössischem von Karl Jenkins.
Ohad Naharin, Leiter der Batsheva Dance Company in Tel Aviv, gehört zu den wichtigsten Protagonisten zeitgenössischer Choreographie und wird weltweit eingeladen, seine Werke mit renommierten Compagnien einzuarbeiten. Zum ersten Mal arbeitet er nun mit dem Staatsballett Berlin zusammen, das sich dafür mit „Gaga“, dem von Naharin entwickelten Bewegungskonzept beschäftigt hat. „Gaga“ sucht nach der Interaktion zwischen den Beteiligten, die sich gemeinsam einen Bewegungsraum von Freiheit und Wohlbehagen erarbeiten. „Secus“, das Stück des Abends für 16 Tänzer mit Musik von „The Beach Boys“ oder auch aus dem Hindi-Film „Kaho Naa… Pyar Hai“, wurde 2005 mit der Batsheva Dance Company uraufgeführt. „Ich mag es, mit Grenzen zu spielen. Leidenschaft und Extreme, Reduktion, herausbrechende Kraft, rohes Fleisch, saftiger Körper, es ist die Lust des Moments, wie beim Essen“, beschreibt der israelische Choreograph selbst die Arbeit.
Visuelle Überraschungen in Szene zu setzen ist das Markenzeichen des tschechischen Choreographen Jiří Kylián. Zu einem seiner Schlüsselwerke gehört „Petite mort“ von 1991. Dieses Werk für sechs Männer und sechs Frauen beruht auf den populären Adagio-Sätzen der Klavierkonzerte Nr. 21 und 23 von Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Die Intensität der langsamen musikalischen Sätze bildet den Kontrapunkt zu einer energetischen und vieldeutigen Schau männlicher wie weiblicher Attribute.
