Das Festival-Konzept wurde seit 2010 nach Chile, Argentinien und Brasilien exportiert. Zudem ist mit dem „Kidzapalooza“ wieder ein eigenes kleines Festival im Festival für Familien und Kinder geplant.

Lollapalooza 2018 mit The Weeknd und Kraftwerk 3D

Die ersten Headliner für 2018 wurden bereits bekannt gegeben. In diesem Jahr können sich die Fans auf The Weeknd, Kraftwerk 3D, Imagine Dragons und The National und viele andere freuen. Fashionpalooza: Showfläche für Modelabels

Während des Festivals verwandelte sich ein Teil des Parks in eine interaktive Showfläche, auf der angesagte Modelabels eine kleine Fashion-Stadt eröffneten. Zudem inszenierten sich beim Fashionpalooza angesagte Modemarken, Lifestylebrands und Fashion-Newcomer.

Kidzapalooza

Das Kidzapalooza ist ein spezielles Programm für die jüngsten Festivalgäste zwischen 0 und 14 Jahren. Die Kidza-Bühne wartet mit zahlreichen Live-Erlebnissen für kleine und große Gäste auf. Das Kidzapalooza bietet an beiden Festivaltagen kindergerechte Performances und abenteuerliche Highlights für die kleinsten Musikfans.

Über das Festival

Im Jahr 1991 von Jane’s Addiciton-Sänger Perry Farrell ins Leben gerufen, geht das Lollapalooza wieder jeden Sommer in Chicago mit mehr als 160 000 Besuchern über die Bühne. Traditionell spielen dort internationale Top-Acts wie Eminem, Beastie Boys, Nick Cave, Red Hot Chilli Peppers oder Lady Gaga, aber auch unbekanntere Künstler. «Lollapalooza ist der Ort, an dem aus Newcomern Legenden werden und an den Legenden zurückkehren, um ihren Ruhm unter Beweis zu stellen», erklärte Festivalgründer Farrell. Die US-Serie «Die Simpsons» widmete dem Lollapalooza sogar eine Folge namens «Homerpalooza».

Vom Flughafen über die Rennbahn auf das Olympia-Gelände

2015 hatte das Lollapalooza seine Europapremiere auf dem Tempelhofer Feld gefeiert. Weil dort Flüchtlinge untergebracht sind, musste jedoch ein neuer Ort gefunden werden. Vom 10. bis 11. September 2016 stieg das zweite Lollapalooza in Berlin. Veranstaltungsort war der Treptower Park im Ortsteil Alt-Treptow. 2017 war die Rennbahn Hoppegarten Austragungsort des Festivals.
