Vom 06. – 09. Dezember 2018 bietet die Zeughausmesse zum 22. Mal wieder die Gelegenheit, rund 90 hochklassige Künstler, Kunsthandwerker und Designer zu treffen, ihre liebevoll und meisterlich hergestellten Werke zu bestaunen oder etwas für sich oder seine Lieben zu Weihnachten zu erwerben. Die Messe im imposante Zeughaushof ist nicht einfach nur ein gängiger Weihnachtsbazar sondern zeichnet sich durch eine besonders hochwertige Handmade-Kultur aus. Treue Besucher wissen, dass die Messe als Schaufenster der Angewandten Kunst gilt, in der sich neueste Trends und Entwicklungen der Kunstgewerke präsentieren.
Werfen wir einen Vorab-Blick auf das, was den Besucher erwartet, der sich mit viel Muse und Zeit für Gespräche mit den Kunsthandwerkern und Designern die verschiedenen Segmente erobern sollte. Da gibt es zum Beispiel stilvolle Hüte, ausgefallene Keramik, außergewöhnlichen Schmuck, strahlende Glasobjekte und weiteres mehr. Die benutzbaren Kunstgegenstände bestechen durch ihre ästhetische und konzeptionelle Qualität. Eine Auswahl an Künstlern zeigt das beispielhaft:
Die Keramik von Ulrike Weiss besticht durch ihr klares Design. Sie bringt die rot-weiße Kollektionen ‘Biscuits Exquis’ und ihre neue, einfarbige Kollektion ‘Copper’ von Paris nach Berlin. In beiden Kollektionen sind Motive, Farbigkeit und Oberflächen auf das Wesentliche reduziert. So kontrastieren und harmonieren die Objekte auf spannende, aber nicht verwirrende Weise miteinander.
Die Lampen aus speziellem Japanpapier von Hendrike Roers sind Grenzgänger zwischen Kunst und Design, Skulptur und Produkt. Die Designerin entwickelt hochkomplexe fraktale Muster in Fläche und Raum, inspiriert von der islamischen Kunst und dem Formenreichtum aus der Natur. Das Papier gibt ein warmes, besonderes Licht und ist zugleich reißfest und langlebig.
Die Natur hat Astrid Spork bezaubert. Diesen Zauber kann sie nicht festhalten, und doch versucht sie, ihm in ihren Schmuckstücken nachzuspüren. So entstehen ihre sehr zarten, bunten, schillernden, verspielten, federleichten Ohrringe, Fingerringe und Colliers aus Gold, Silber, Edelsteinen, Glas und Nylon.

Die Kette aus Silber, Zeitungspapier, Lemonquarz von Alisa Volz entstand im Rahmen eines sozialen Projektes für die Leseförderung für Kinder und Jugendliche in Hanau. Das Zeitungspapier stellt die Verbindung von Wort und Zeilen dar, die gerollte Form des Zeitungspapieres symbolisiert die Schwierigkeit mancher Menschen, Information zu lesen und zu verarbeiten und der Stein steht für den Erfolg, nachdem die Hürden überwunden sind. Die Künstlerin gehört zu Akademie Label, eine Initiative zur Förderung der Schülerinnen und Schüler der Zeichenakademie Hanau. Das Label ist ein eigenständiges Markenzeichen und steht für zeitgemäße und innovative Gestaltung in Edelmetall.
Elke Hirsch braucht Zeit, um aus einer über hundertjährigen Eiche eine Schale in der von ihr gewünschten Wertigkeit von Hand zu drechseln. Jede einzelne Rille wird mit einem Meisel und großem handwerklichen Können in die massive Außenwand der Schale gestochen. Die Objekte verführen genauer hinzuschauen, zu greifen und zu begreifen, inne zu halten und die Lebendigkeit des Holzes zu erspüren.
Die Entwürfe und die Verarbeitung der Handpuppen von Maria Barleben zeigen ihr künstlerische Können: Die Tiere sehen lebensecht aus. Wenn die Klappmaultiere aus edlen Mohair- und Alpakastoffen bespielt werden, fängt der Dialog sofort an. Auf der Zeughausmesse gibt es eine Einführung in die Spieltechnik.
Preisverleihung Angewandte Kunst
Einige Aussteller haben internationale Preise erhalten. Auch auf der Zeughausmesse werden Künstler ausgezeichnet. Eine Fachjury vergibt für herausragende Leistung an vier der anwesenden Aussteller die Preise für Angewandte Kunst. Bei der Eröffnung der Zeughausmesse werden die Preise feierlich übergeben. Die Berliner Volksbank fördert die Preise mit 1300 Euro bis 500 Euro finanziell.
Dr. Klaus Lederer, Bürgermeister und Senator für Kultur und Europa des Landes Berlin, ist Schirmherr der Zeughausmesse. Veranstalter der Verkaufsausstellung ist der Berufsverband Angewandte Kunst Berlin-Brandenburg e.V. in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Deutschen Historischen Museum. Neben der Berliner Volksbank fördern Art Aurea, Delinat, Götze, Inform und Top Magazin Berlin die Messe.
