Die Berliner Festspiele laden herzlich ein zur Gesprächsrunde mit Hans Ulrich Obrist (Kurator), Dorothea von Hantelmann (Kunsthistorikerin, Kuratorin) und Milo Rau (Regisseur). Sie widmen sich im Gespräch mit Thomas Oberender den Einflüssen, die beide Visionäre bis heute auf Theater, Architektur und bildende Kunst haben.
Als Künstler und Visionär gehört Friedrich Kiesler zu einer Generation von Architekten, die in der zweiten Hälfte des 20. Jahrhunderts eine neue, radikale Art von Theaterbauten und Bühnenkonstruktionen entworfen hat. Seine Modelle zeugen von dem Wunsch, die Zuschauer*innen in das Bühnengeschehen eintauchen zu lassen und moderne Formen des Geschichtenerzählens zu ermöglichen.
Auch der britische Architekt Cedric Price entwickelt mit seinem „Fun Palace“ von 1961 eine Theatervision, deren flexible Raumgestaltung eine dynamische Kulturmaschine und sich ständig neu gestaltende Begegnungsstätte zelebriert.
Die Gesprächsrunde „Das Theater seiner Träume“ setzt Cedric Prices utopischen Entwurf in Bezug zu Kieslers Modellen und lädt zum Gallery Weekend in den Martin-Gropius-Bau.
