Alexander Kühne, geboren 1964 in Meißen, wuchs in Lugau, heute Brandenburg, auf. Nach der Lehre in einer Schraubenfabrik arbeitete er auf einem Kohleplatz, bei der Staatlichen Versicherung und verkaufte Modelleisenbahnen. Gleichzeitig organisierte er mit Freunden in seinem Heimatdorf Konzerte mit Bands der DDR-Punk- und New-Wave-Szene. 1990 zog er nach Berlin und machte eine Ausbildung zum Fernsehjournalisten. Er arbeitete als Redakteur für verschiedene TV-Magazine und schrieb Drehbücher. Sein Debütroman »Düsterbusch City Lights« wurde von arte/MDR unter dem Titel »Lugau City Lights« als Dokumentation verfilmt. Eine Bühnenfassung wurde am Theater Magdeburg aufgeführt.
