Das Ägyptische Museum zeigt die neue Sonderausstellung «China und Ägypten. Wiegen der Welt» mit Objekten aus dem Shanghai Museum. In der neuen Ausstellung auf der Museumsinsel werden rund 250 Kunstschätze der chinesischen und ägyptischen Hochkultur von 4500 v. Chr. bis in die griechisch-römische Zeit 332 v. Chr. bis 312 n. Chr zusammen präsentiert. Das Neue Museum hat Exponate des Shanghai Museums, des Ethnologischen Museums und des Museums für Asiatische Kunst ausgewählt, die zum Teil erstmals in Berlin zu sehen sein werden.
Einblick in die Wiegen großer Zivilisationen
Die Besucher werden durch die geschichtliche Entwicklung beider Kulturen geführt, die bis heute als Wiege großer Zivilisationen gelten. Anhand der fünf Themengebiete Lebenswelten, Schrift, Totenkult, Glaubenswelten sowie Herrschaft und Verwaltung werden Unterschiede und Gemeinsamkeiten des Alten China und Alten Ägypten gegenübergestellt.
