Die Gold Projections sind eine patentierte Technik des amerikanischen Künstlers Joe Ramirez, der seit 2007 in Berlin lebt. Dabei werden Filme auf eine große, runde und konvexe Holztafel projeziert. Diese Holztafeln wurden zuvor in mühsamer Handarbeit vergoldet. Durch diese Vergoldung entstehen spezielle Lichteffekte, der projezierte Film wirkt entschleunigt und es entstehen Szenen, die bewegten Gemälden ähneln.
Filmgemälde: „Somnium“ und „Limits of the Marvellous“
Die Ausstellung im Kulturforum präsentiert das jüngste Werk des Künstlers mit dem Titel „Somnium“. Es basiert auf der Novelle von Johannes Kepler von 1608 und beschreibt eine geträumte Reise zum Mond. Das zweistündige Filmgemälde wird auf der zweieinhalb Meter großen und 200 Kilogramm schweren Tafel zu sehen sein. Joe Ramirez wird am 07. Februar 2017 im Kunstforum mit der Vergoldung der runden Holztafel beginnen. Am 14., 15. und 16. Februar wird dann „Somnium“ zu sehen sein. Am 18. und 19. Februar wird der zweite Film Ramirez‘ „Limits of the Marvellous“ gezeigt.
