Täglich reisen über 1 Million Menschen mit der Berliner S-Bahn. Diese werden von 24. September bis 04. November 2018 multimediale Installationen an Stellwerken in Berlin erleben. Die Installationen sind Teil des Projektes Along the Lines der Künstlerin Natalia Irina Roman. Sie hat sich in die sehr komplexen Strukturen der Deutschen Bahn eingearbeitet und entwickelt die Vision, mit Stellwerken eine Plattform für Kunst im öffentlichen Raum zu schaffen. Teil des Projektes wird ein Begleitprogramm mit zwei Podiumsdiskussionen und einem Kurzdokumentarflm sein, das die Idee auf städtischer Ebene behandeln.
Überall entlang der Berliner Bahngleise gibt es Orte, Gebäude, Freifächen, die uns so direkt vor Augen sind, dass wir täglich an ihnen vorbeikommen, ohne sie wahrzunehmen. Sie schlummern wie tief vergrabene Schätze mit riesigem Potenzial im öffentlichen Raum. Mit Multimedia- Installationen an den Stellwerken möchte das Projekt Along the Lines Passanten sowie wartende und vorbeifahrende Reisende an den Haltestellen Frankfurter Allee, Tempelhof und Erkner überraschen und aus ihrem Alltagstrott reißen. Ein Ziel dabei: Auf das Potenzial der Stellwerke als Orte für Kunst aufmerksam machen. Denn gerade in Zeiten von steigenden Mietpreisen und Wohnungsnot bieten Stellwerke Künstler*innen neue Chancen zum Arbeiten und Ausstellen.
