Mit „Jasper Morrison. Thingness“ präsentiert das Bauhaus-Archiv / Museum für Gestaltung, Berlin vom 22.3. bis 23.10.2017 die erste deutsche Retrospektive zum Schaffen eines der international renommiertesten Designer der Gegenwart. Jasper Morrison gestaltete in den vergangenen 35 Jahren unterschiedlichste Alltagsgegenstände: Möbel, Küchenutensilien, Geschirrserien und Leuchten, aber auch Schuhe, Uhren, Handys sowie eine Straßenbahn für die Stadt Hannover.
Im Laufe seiner Karriere arbeitete Morrison für zahlreiche bekannte Firmen wie etwa Alessi, Cappellini, Camper, Muji, Samsung oder Vitra. Für einige seiner Entwürfe erhielt er Auszeichnungen wie den IF Transportation Design Prize oder den Ecology Award. Im Entwurfsprozess setzt sich der 1959 geborene Brite intensiv mit bereits bestehenden Formen, Materialität und dem Zweck eines Gegenstands auseinander, um dessen perfekte Form zu finden.
Die durch die Produkte entstehende Raumatmosphäre sowie der maximale Komfort der Verwender sind für Morrison dabei wichtige Faktoren. Sein Design zeichnet sich durch eine klare Formsprache aus.
Die Ausstellung wurde in Zusammenarbeit mit Jasper Morrison und dem CID (Grand-Hornu, Belgien) entwickelt.
